Women in Supply Chain: Voices of Resilience and Innovation at Zero Down

Table of contents

Did you know women are reshaping the supply chain industry, one smart solution at a time? At Zero Down Supply Chain Solutions, we’re proud to spotlight the women leading that effort.

According to Gartner’s 2024 Women in Supply Chain Survey, women account for 40% of the workforce in this field, offering valuable perspectives as the industry faces talent shortages, tech disruptions, and sustainability demands in 2025.

Today, we’re sharing the stories of four standout women on our team: Saxon, Jessie, Randi, and Jessica—whose journeys and achievements show what’s possible in this field.

Real Stories from the Front Lines

Saxon McBride, Director of Operations

She was pulled to the problem-solving of spend management, finding purpose in helping businesses optimize costs, a key focus across industries.

“I love finding ways to save costs and deliver value,” she says.

As a young woman, building her reputation in a challenging field took dedication, and her achievements shine through. She developed Zero Down’s parcel claims process and led the creation of our negotiations module, streamlining carrier agreements.

Leading teams has also strengthened her skills.

Her tip for women? “Embrace continuous learning. Knowledge is power. Don’t be afraid to speak up; your perspective matters.”

Jessie Hensley, Implementation Project Manager

Jessie’s supply chain career began unexpectedly in 2012 when she enlisted in the United States Air Force. Without a pre-chosen field, Supply Chain Management was assigned to her, and it proved to be a great fit.

“No two days are ever the same,” she says, enjoying the constant challenges of managing inventory, optimizing routes, and working across teams.

Early on, she dealt with gender bias and work-life balance struggles, but perseverance and support carried her through. Her hard work paid off. During an Air Force inspection, the Air Mobility Command Inspector General named her an outstanding performer, awarding her a coin for her expertise. Her team also earned the Defense Packaging Policy Group Award for introducing reusable containers that improved efficiency and sustainability.

Jessie’s advice to women entering the field? “Problem-solving and adaptability are key. Begin with the end in mind.”

Randi Bobbitt, Logistics Analyst

For Randi, a college presentation by a woman in logistics sparked her interest. After learning about the industry in just an hour, she researched it, switched her major to logistics, and has stayed in the field since.

“It’s a never-ending puzzle that always needs solving,” she explains, valuing the chance to find cost savings and improve processes.

Breaking into a male-dominated field wasn’t simple. Early in her career, she was often the only woman in the room. Still, helping build foundational teams, adding more women, and making a real impact for organizations made it rewarding.

Her advice is straightforward: “Network with others, especially women. Don’t let the historical view of the industry hold you back from changing it.”

Jessica Peck, Key Account Manager

Jessica is one of the few who chose supply chain from the start. A high school business class lesson piqued her interest, and she saw it as uncharted territory worth exploring.

With experience in 3PLs, 4PLs, and FAP companies, she found her passion in helping clients—streamlining processes, implementing systems, and uncovering cost savings to boost efficiency. As a young woman, her biggest challenge was recognizing her own worth.

“I’m not always the smartest in the room, but I’ll tackle any issue head-on,” she says.

She’s proud that her work drives both her growth and her company’s impact.

Her advice? “Don’t give up, stay positive, and know it’s okay to ask for help. Find a company that matches your drive.”
